THEATRE BY & FOR CHILDREN
"To Encourage Enthusiasm for
Literacy in Young People."
A core company of professional actors and musicians create a framework using traditional and contemporary folk tales as scripts, around which children age 6 to 18 build a musical theatre performance. The participants add song, dance, music, sets, costumes, make-up, and action to retell the tale.
When professional musicians join the cast, performers have an opportunity to discover the special character of each instrument. They use this knowledge to add sound effects and music to the production. During performance the energy and vibrancy is strongly enhanced by the support of a live orchestra.
Symphonic Storytellers has many faces.
